"Splash of Surrealism"
This is a project that combines the ideation, creativity and ideaologies of Surrealism movement through the medium of watercolour. A loose, and vibrant medium which blends itself naturally with the subject matter. Students combined two animals, isolating key features to create a new animal evolution as a result of adaptation in a post-apocalyptic world.

Project Initiation
Define project objectives and scope.
Introduced to the Surrealist movement, artworks and concepts.

Composition & Animal Studies
Students learn different composition techniques.
Students document local environment.
Basics of drawing, broken shapes, simple anatomy.
Set project milestones and deadlines.

Animal Combination, Environment Studies & intro to Theme
Create animal studies (minimum two) with concept combination study .
Introduce theme: Adaptive Apocalypse.

Design finalisation & Transfer
Students design a final composition in their sketchbooks.
Finalize design and layout elements.
Students transfer design onto watercolour paper.

Watercolour Basics
Basics of watercolour techniques.
Demonstration of techniques in combination.
Experimentation with material.

Painting Development
Students begin painting their final painting.

Painting Development
Students finalize their paintings.
Students write small artist statement about their work.
